Valeo unveils its cutting-edge technologies on connected cars at CES Asia 2016

Valeo, with its new peiker Telematics brand, addresses users’ needs for more connectivity on board

With its new peiker Telematics brand, Valeo offers automakers new telematic systems equipped with the high-speed connectivity and cybersecurity features that this high-growth market demands.

The Group has decided to present its new brand in China, the biggest automotive market in the world, where users’ expectations for continuous connectivity are higher – 97% of Chinese drivers use a smartphone while driving versus 70% in Europe.

Valeo SCALA™ laser scanner, playing a vital role in automated driving

Valeo is showcasing its SCALA™ laser scanner, a technology which will be a key enabler for highly automated driving thanks to its extended detection range, wide field of view and accuracy. Valeo SCALA™ laser device scans the area in front of the vehicle and detects vehicles, motorbikes, pedestrians and static obstacles like trees, parked vehicles and guard rails – all with an extremely high level of accuracy. The system works during the day and at night, when the car is driving at both high and low speeds. Using the collected data, the scanner creates a map of the environment allowing it to analyze and anticipate events around the vehicle.

Connectivity Modules

Peiker’s connectivity modules not only enable position location of vehicles after a crash based on an automatic emergency call (eCall) system, but also offer the ability to bring internet technology with the highest UMTS/LTE-based data transfer rates into vehicles as well. The vehicle’s existing communications module can also be used to deliver additional services such as remote vehicle diagnosis, fleet management services, or special offers from car manufacturers and insurers.

Microphones and microphone technology have been integral components of the peiker portfolio right from the start. In step with advances in microphone technology, we have continued to further develop our acoustic expertise in related areas including signal quality and static noise reduction.

Universal Cradles

As smartphones have become increasingly popular, they are of course found more frequently in cars as well. peiker has taken on the task of integrating them into a car hands-free kit in a way that enables convenient use of features such as music file playback or displaying of navigation information via the vehicle’s own system.
