Valeo’s history in the U.S. started in 1980 with the creation of Valeo Auto Industries Inc. to develop and sell thermal systems to major American automakers.
As the Group expanded, Valeo created joint ventures with Eaton, Osram Sylvania and V. Johnson Enterprises, which further developed Valeo’s leadership in North America. The Group also created a joint venture with Raytheon, which was eventually renamed Valeo Radar Systems and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Valeo.
Valeo also acquired Blackstone and ITT Industries, which significantly reinforced Valeo’s presence in North America and made it a world leader in electronics. In 2017, Valeo U.S. added a new engineering and innovation center in San Mateo, California.
Valeo participates in several automotive events in the U.S., including the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, CES in Las Vegas, Nevada and South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
