E-shifter

An E-shifter is a gear selection system that uses electronic signals to change gears instead of the traditional mechanical linkage. This technology allows for a smoother, more intuitive gear shifting experience, and can be found in the form of buttons, rotary dials, or toggles. Valeo develops all three types.

Our electronic gear shifter is composed of :

• 1 decorative toggle +/- with 2 step positions
• haptic targets and contactless technology
• 2 pushes (Parking & Mode ) with single detent with backlight
• 3 symbols (R – N – D) with backlighting (different colors)

Torque and/or Angle Sensors

Torque and/or Angle Sensors are reliable components designed to detect drivers’ torque and/or steering wheel position for precise regulation in electronic power steering (EPS) systems and future steer-by-wire steering systems.

These sensors represent a pivotal advancement in automotive technology, providing real-time feedback on the driver’s input to optimize steering performance and enhance vehicle control. By accurately detecting torque and steering wheel position, they enable the EPS system to adjust steering assistance levels dynamically, improving responsiveness and stability under varying driving conditions.

Steering Wheel Switches

The Valeo Steering Wheel Switches are designed to revolutionize the driving experience with their intuitive interaction capabilities. This innovation is engineered to the highest standards of safety and performance. It allows drivers to effortlessly control a wide range of essential functions, including assistance, automated driving, and infotainment, by maintaining a firm grip on the steering wheel and eyes on the road ahead.

Steering Wheel: Electronics

Steering Wheel Electronics represent the integration of Hands-On Detection (HOD) and heating functionality within the steering wheel. The Hands-On Detection system ensures that the driver remains actively engaged and in control during transitions between manual and assisted/automated driving modes (Level 2, 3, 4). It ensures the safety of the driver and is thus relevant for European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro-NCAP) testing from 2023.
