Valeo electrical compressors enable high performance thermal management of A/C and H/P systems, in electric and hybrid vehicles.

Designed and validated for efficient cabin and battery, cooling and heating, they can withstand severe operation conditions and support battery fast charging thanks to a wide operating high voltage range.

Valeo offers a wide range of electrical compressors, from medium to large displacement and at different voltage ranges for the different applications in electrified vehicles.

Valeo range includes: 34cc 400 V, 45cc 400 V and 45cc 800 V.

R-744 Smart Heat Pump Dual

A Heat Pump is an evolution of the Air Conditioning (A/C) to cool the cabin but also to warm it, using the thermodynamic cycle of a refrigerant gas.

Over time, EV heat pump systems have increased in complexity, taking more and more space while their cost has become quite substantial. Designing compact modules has become the main trend while focusing on sustainability.

Particulate Matter (PM) Sensor

Air pollution has become a global issue, even inside vehicles. People feel more and more concerned by pollution risks, particularly by ultra fine particles responsible of cardiovascular diseases.

A Particulate Matter (PM) Sensor measures the floating particles in the air. Fixed at the HVAC’s air inlet and/or inside the cabin,Valeo’s Particulate Matter 2.5 particles sensor provides real-time air pollution information with a high level of accuracy in very compact packaging.

HVAC Brushless Motors

A Brushless Blower Motor is a component of the HVAC system that actions the wheel and pumps ambient air into the module. Valeo develops and produces HVAC brushless motors that have the twofold advantage of being quieter and more energy efficient (than equivalent brush motor with linear power module).

The deployment of electric and autonomous vehicles has introduced new interior design trends offering spacious passenger compartments and dashboards with sober and fluid lines.

Valeo has completed its portfolio of HVAC modules with an Ultra Flat HVAC module, perfectly adapted to this constraint without compromising on efficiency.

Valeo also offers HVAC modules with low-emission materials such as recycled polymers, in order to achieve its objective of carbon neutrality on these products by 2050.

R-744 Standard Heat Pump

Valeo is strongly committed to sustainable development and environmental protection: it was the first equipment supplier to promote R-744 Standard Heat Pump (natural refrigerant), winning a PACE Award in 2017 for this innovative technology. (PACE: Premier Automotive Suppliers’ Contribution to Excellence).

R-744 (CO₂) Refrigerant has a significantly lower climate impact than fluorinated refrigerants (R-134a or R-1234yf). It also offers more power and efficiency at extreme cold temperatures (-18°C) thanks to its thermodynamic properties. It is the most efficient way of heating an electric vehicle in cold conditions.

Standard Heat Pump

A Standard Heat Pump is the evolution of the Air Conditioning (A/C) system: it is now able to cool the cabin but also to warm it, using the thermodynamic cycle of a refrigerant gas.

Valeo develops multiple Standard Heat Pump architectures (Direct or Indirect) that serve as a “smart thermal network” to optimize overall energy and cabin comfort while maintaining driving range.

When the system is fully optimized, this Standard Heat Pump can extend the range of electric vehicles by up to 30% in winter.

Since our first serial application with a major European OEM, we have upgraded and simplified our system to improve efficiency (for example: adding a hygrometry sensor or enabling new functions such as Heat Recovery on battery and powertrain).

Cabin Air Filters

Cabin air filters act like a barrier against dust, particulate matter and pollens that pass through the air inlet of the HVAC module.

Valeo offers a full range of cabin air filters, an essential contributor to safe and healthy air in the cabin, from standard filters to very high efficiency combined filters with activated carbon layers that can stop odors, harmful gases and drastically reduce allergen and virus activity.

R-1234yf / R-744 Heat Pump Heat Exchangers

A water-cooled condenser is part of a specific hot loop/cold loop thermal management architecture. It connects the cooling loop to the air conditioning system. This innovative condensers use coolant rather than air to liquefy air conditioning refrigerant vapour.

Battery cooling needs are increasing and require higher condensation performance. But a condenser needs also to work as an evaporator to recover heat from air at cold temperatures to avoid too much impact on the vehicle range.

It is a key exchanger in a heat pump loop to heat up the cabin. However, when the heat pump cannot provide enough heat, a High Voltage Coolant Heater is required.
