Disconnect Electric Actuator
Last update: 12 Jul. 2024What is a disconnect actuator?
The Disconnect is an electric actuator implemented in the transmission that allows to disconnect the wheels from the Electric Drive Unit, primarly for electric vehicle All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and P4 Hybrid using Permanent Magnet Synchronous electric Motor (PMSM) type.
This disconnect device improves the system efficency (power consumption reduction) by reducing drag losses when all-wheel drive capability is not needed. Valeo offers both Solenoid or Electromechanical (Smart and non Smart) disconnect actuator types.
