The shape of the beam is adjusted to avoid blinding oncoming motorists, leaving the road fully lit, apart from the portion occupied by the vehicles detected by the system.
Powerful data-processing software and a BeamAtic® camera located behind the windshield detect oncoming and overtaking vehicles.
The system also anticipates variations in altitude (going over the top of or down a hill) and adjusts the direction of the beam, so that the headlamps can always stay on high beam without blinding other drivers.
BeamAtic® PremiumLED headlamps will be equipping mass-market vehicles in Europe and the U.S. by 2014.
